I think it's disgusting too, but not in a good way. It's so loud you don't hear the v8 anymore. You hardly hear any rev character, its just BAAAA and then silence. you can find a power and ground with out needing to run wires into the engine bay. you just need to do some research and probing with either a power probe or a volt meter. power probes are best because it will show you a good ground and a power.
